CASE STUDY
Te Papa 7th Anniversary Function
Client: Te
Papa
Theme: Pumice, Feathers and a Touch of Glitz
Venue: Icon Restaurant, Te Papa
The Brief: To design and theme an NZ Icon using natural elements and a bit of added
funk.
The Challenge: Using natural materials that contain cultural
references, whilst respecting the cultural sensitivities of the client
& the environment. Also acknowledging that the event fell on Valentines
Day, without being too schmaltzy!
The Outcome: Consultation with Te Papa elders ensured
that appropriate native elements were used. Understated silver hearts
featured extensively in the decorative stands of pumice, feathers, grasses
and driftwood – a subtle reminder of Valentines Day.
